Southern Railway invites feedback on Chennai's new AC EMU train timings

CHENNAI: Southern Railway (SR) on Sunday invited passenger feedback on the timings of the newly-introduced AC EMU service. Commuters can share their suggestions on the new initiative through WhatsApp and feedback form, said a Southern Railway press note.

Passengers can give their suggestions through 6374713251 which has been earmarked exclusively for this purpose. Rail users are requested to send WhatsApp messages to this number. Voice calls and voice messages are not permitted.

Passengers may also register their opinion through the feedback form available in the official website of the Southern Railway. In the form, passengers can also rate the comfort of the train travel and give suggestions to improve the service.

“It’s a welcome move from the Southern Railways to receive valuable feedback from passengers for the new service. This gesture will ensure a cordial relationship between passengers and operating authority,” said Dayanand Krishnan, an activist. “But they have to reduce the fare, and make it on par with the Metro Rail. And, the number of services from Tambaram to Beach should be increased during non-peak hours (10.30 am to 3.45 pm and 8.30 pm to 11 pm). In total, 12 services could be operated. As the capacity of the train is around 5,000 passengers, the ticket cost has to be brought down.”

The first South Indian AC EMU train was introduced here in Chennai on Saturday. Timings, ticket fare and stoppages were the major deterrents of the train service, claimed some passengers.
