CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday urged successful UPSC candidates trained under the State’s ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme to uphold the values of social justice, integrity, and compassion in public service, stating that true leadership lies in serving the poor and the voiceless.

Speaking at a felicitation event held at the Anna Administrative Staff College here, Stalin lauded the aspirants for their remarkable achievement and emphasised the importance of character in governance.

“You must first earn a place in the hearts of the people. If you serve with honesty, courage, and a deep sense of social justice, the people will never forget you,” he said. “Tamil Nadu has a proud legacy in civil services, and has produced exemplary IAS and IPS officers.”

However, he acknowledged a recent dip in success rates and noted with satisfaction that the latest batch of achievers had revived the State’s stature. “Your success validates the vision behind ‘Naan Mudhalvan’, which was launched to equip students with the skills and confidence to clear competitive exams and build careers of impact,” said the CM.

He also underscored the government’s broader educational mission, citing welfare schemes such as the Pudhumai Penn and Uyarvukku Padi programmes that aim to improve access, equity and employability. “'Education is our greatest weapon, and through these initiatives, we’re empowering youth to script their own futures,” he pointed out. “Become role models. From today, you should not only look up to others for inspiration, but strive to become an inspiration yourself.”

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, HRM Minister N Kayalvizhi Selvaraj and senior officials were present at the event.
