Southern Railway announces special trains for Velankanni festival

CHENNAI: Special trains would be operated between Chennai Egmore – Velankanni, Ernakulam Jn – Velankanni and Thiruvananthapuram Central – Velankanni during the Velankanni festival, said a Southern Railway statement.

Train 06037 Chennai Egmore – Velankanni weekly express special will leave Egmore station at 11.40 pm on August 28, September 4 and 11 (Thursday) and reach Velankanni at 7.35 am the next day (3 services).

Train 06038 Velankanni – Tambaram weekly express special will leave Velankanni at 11 pm on August 29, September 5 and 12 (Friday) and reach Tambaram at 7.30 am the next day (3 services).

Coach composition will be one AC two-tier coach, three AC three-tier coaches, six sleeper class coaches, five general second class coaches and two second class coaches (disabled-friendly). The train will have stoppages at Tambaram, Villupuram, Cuddalore Port and Nagapattinam.

Train 06061 Ernakulam Jn – Velankanni weekly express special will leave Ernakulam Jn at 11.50 pm on August 27, September 3 and 10 (Thursday) and reach Velankanni at 3.15 pm the next day (3 services). In the return direction, Train 06062 Velankanni – Ernakulam Jn weekly express special will leave Velankanni at 6.40 pm on August 28, September 4 and 11 (Thursday) and reach Ernakulam Jn at 11.55 am the next day (3 services).

Coach composition will be of one AC two-tier coach, three AC three-tier coaches, eight sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches, one second class coach (disabled-friendly) and one luggage-cum-brake van. The train will have stoppages at Tenkasi, Sivakasi, Karaikudi, Tiruvarur.

Train 06115 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Velankanni weekly express special will leave Thiruvananthapuram Central at 3.25 pm on August 27 and September 3 (Wednesday) and reach Velankanni at 03.55 am the next day (2 services). In the return direction, Train 06116 Velankanni – Thiruvananthapuram Central weekly express special will leave Velankanni at 7.30 pm on August 28 and September 4 (Thursday) and reach Thiruvananthapuram Central at 6.55 am the next day (2 services).

Coach composition will be of two AC two-tier coaches, two AC three-tier coaches, three AC three-tier economy coaches, six sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches, one pantry car, one second class coach (disabled-friendly) and one luggage-cum-brake van. The train will have stoppages at Tirunelveli, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam

Advance reservation for the above special trains will open at 8.00 am on Tuesday, added the release.
