CHENNAI: The Southern Railway (SR) has refuted the reported non-availability of non-veg breakfast on Vande Bharat trains and said that the passengers could continue to exercise the option of availing non-veg breakfast on the trains.
Following media reports suggesting unavailability of non-veg breakfast on VB trains, SR on Saturday issued a clarification refuting such reports and said, "It is reiterated that non-vegetarian breakfast is available, and 603 non-vegetarian breakfasts were served in Vande Bharat trains in the Southern Zone on May 30. Today (May 31), 1,302 non-vegetarian breakfasts were served in Vande Bharat trains in the Southern zone."
Attributing the difficulties in exercising the non-veg breakfast option at the time of booking to a technical glitch, the SR clarification said that the CRIS was trying to resolve the issue.
SR also requested passengers to continue exercising their option of Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian Breakfast while booking Vande Bharat tickets.
According to the official clarification, as many as 240 of the 603 non-veg breakfasts were served on board train no. 20627 Chennai Egmore – Nagercoil junction Vande Bharat Express on May 30, followed by 95 on 20663 Mysuru – MGR Chennai Central VB Express.
