Shankar refuses to convince Kamal for Indian 2

Indian 2 has been in the cans for a long time now and there is no word from Lyca officially on dropping the film. In the latest development, the production house had asked Shankar to talk to Kamal Haasan and ask if he was planning to resume shooting for Indian 2. However, the director had apparently refused to do so. “Shankar told Lyca that he could not convince Kamal, as he was currently focussing only on politics. The director had also said that he has already begun the pre-production work of his next,” a source in the know told DT Next.

Meanwhile, Kamal has also started shooting for Bigg Boss Season 3 and is expected to shoot for Thevar Magan 2 later this year. “Indian 2 started with a budget of Rs 150 crore. Now, the film’s budget is almost Rs 350 crore. Lyca wanted Shankar to finish the film and sell it on a first copy basis. The producers also have been paying Rs 40,000 a day for the sets on the outskirts of Chennai, which is not being used. So, the official word on Indian 2 from Lyca will be out anytime soon.”
