Model Citizen: 78-year-old veers towards social service after retirement
I was born and raised in Coimbatore. I later moved to Chennai, where was educated In Loyola. I retired about two decades ago, after serving the Central Warehousing Corporation for 34 years.

Chennai
I used to work for Ramakrishna Mission (2000), and then for CRY in 2001 and also in Cancer Institute Adyar later.
My wife’s death in 1998 after she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia made me veer towards serving society. I am now working towards children’s education and upliftment as part of my services with CRY. My biggest achievement has been raising around Rs 5 lakh for CRY by selling their greeting cards and being part of the team that has raised about 17 crore for Cancer Institute through Rs 20 coupons, throughout my stint with them for 17 years. I am the one volunteer who has attended all their events. I am also part of the Chennai Social Service. For my services, I do not take any remuneration from anyone. It is all out of my own pocket. I want to continue to serve the society as long as I can.
