Reporter's Diary: Is Rajini’s refusal behind Shah’s attack?
BJP national president Amit Shah’s attack on the AIADMK government on corruption came as a surprise since the Opposition parties termed the saffron party as the guardian of the state government.

Chennai
The AIADMK leaders were taken aback and none of them have come out with a direct response to the charges so far. The party functionaries were discussing the reasons for the sudden attack and its impact on the longevity of the government.
BJP functionaries, however, claimed that the attack was a result of actor Rajnikanth’s refusal to join hands with the AIADMK for the Parliament elections along with the BJP.
One of the Sakthikendrikas said most of the participants in the meeting attended by Amit Shah were of the opinion that that a tie-up with Rajinikanth would fetch positive results for the BJP. But, the actor did not respond positively to the suggestion and said that he would lose his popularity and image if he aligned with the AIADMK or DMK even if it was Parliament elections.
Shah stopped from naming the AIADMK in the meeting since he wanted a commitment for alliance from Rajinikanth before totally cutting off the party. Some of the leaders like Thamizharuvi Manian have advised Rajinikanth not to ally with BJP. AIADMK must be hoping that the actor listens to Manian’s advice.
