Man ends life after killing two daughters

A 30-year-old man committed suicide by consuming poison after throwing his two-year old and six month old daughters into a well at Kaliappanur near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district last evening. 

Police said the man S Gunabalan (30), working in a private company, killed his daughters Monisha (2) and Nisha (6 months) into a well before consuming poison. 

He used to frequently quarrel with his wife Surya (25). He took the extreme step as his wife went to Thudiyalur all women police station to lodge a complaint against him. The villagers who came to know that he had consumed poison rushed him to the Karamadai hospital, but he died there. Fire and rescue personnel retrieved the bodies of the two girls  from the well and sent them to Mettupalayam Government Hospital for post mortem,  police added. This is the second such incident being reported in Kovai in recent times. 

Last month, upset over what the future holds for her deaf children, a woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well along with her two minor children at Udumalpet, in nearby Tiruppur district. Police said that Kalaiselvi had been depressed over the fact that her two children – daughter Kaviprabha (8) and son Guhan (10-months old) were deaf. 

The woman who felt her children were faced with a bleak future, jumped into the well along with her children, the police said. According to officials, her husband had discovered the bodies.
