Cardiology convention begins
The 67th annual convention of the Cardiological Society of India began in the city on Wednesday at the Chennai Trade Centre. With a number of sessions being held in the field of speciality, the event will also offer some hands on training from a group of experts

Focusing on advancements, the society, which has an MOU with American Heart Association and European Society of Cardiologists, will have five representatives from each of the associations present at the event.
With a dedicated PG programme in super specialities from across India, 25 examiners will be training them.
“Hands on training will also be imparted by experts from the field for interventional side of cardiology,” says Professor M Somasundaram, Associate Professor of Cardiology, MMC and Cardiologist Government General Hospital and member of the society.
He adds that select papers will also be presented by Indian doctors at the event, which is being held in Chennai after a gap of eight years. “It is a privilege for the doctors to get a chance to showcase their research at an event like this,” he adds.
The event was planned for first week of December and it got postponed due to the floods. The event will wrap up on February 13 with a session, highlighting the important discussions and sessions.
