In a big blow for Swami Nithyananda, the Madras High Court has granted an interim stay on him continuing as the Madadhipathi of Somanatha Swami Temple and Mutt at Tiruvarur and other properties related to Sarada Niketan Samithi Trust (SNST) in Salem District

Justice P R Shivakumar on hearing a plea moved by Swami Athmananda and two others part of SNST ordered interim stay and notice to Nithyananda returnable by March 14.

Originally Nithyananda filed a suit before the Principal Sub Court, Nagapattinam, seeking to declare him as Madadhipathi of the above Mutts and to declare Swami Athmananda, Managing Trustee of SNST, as a non-trustee. He had also sought for a relief of injunction restraining Swami Athmananda from interfering in any way in the administration and the properties of the above Mutts.

Athmananda, in the present Civil Revision Petition, submitted that Nithyananda in the guise of a donation of Rs 2 crore was trying to grab the mutt properties by filing a civil suit as if he is the administrator of the mutt.

Alleging that the above suit is not maintainable and they are the Managing Trustees and Administrator of SNST, Swami Athmananda filed a Civil Revision Petition in Madras High Court to stay all further proceedings on the file of the Principle Sub-Court at Nagapattinam.
