Remembering Rukmini Devi Arundale
Kalakshetra Foundation is organising ‘Remembering Rukmini Devi’, an annual dance and drama festival in memory of its founder, between February 21 and March 2 this year

Bharatnatyam dancer and choreographer, Rukmini Devi played an important role in reviving Bharatnatyam from its original ‘sadhir’ style, prevalent among the temple dancers, Devadasis.
She was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1956 and Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship in 1967, for her commendable contributions to the field of dance.
The 11-day event has a host of programmes including music concerts, dance performances and interesting talks scheduled, by noted personalities from the world of arts.
