A day-long session on Varmalogy will have 75 doctors from across branches of medicine like Ayurveda, Siddha, Homeopathy and Allopathy, train parents in the medical science.

Talking to DT Next , Dr N Shanmugam, Varmam Researcher and Honorary Advisor for ARI, says that the indigenous science Varmam focuses on the subtle energy, which aids in the proper functioning in the body. He says, “We have seen that there are better results for 10-30 per cent of the people who have undergone Varmalogy.

Some children with Cerebral Palsy who need support to sit, show improvement in months. At least half of those who have undergone these sessions have shown improvement.”

Varmam finds reference in the ancient Tamil text Tolkkapiyam. Varmam text dates back to the eighth century, written in Manip ravalam (a combination of Tamil and Sanskrit). Medical Varmalogy uses palms and fingers to activate the energy points.

“The workshop will be focusing on Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Down Syndrome,” he adds. Since 2005, ARI has been conducting workshops and training doctors and parents.

The workshop will be held at Ramlakshmi Paradise, GNT road, Poniamman Road, VS Mani Nagar, Madhavaram, on February 21, 9am to 1 pm. For details, contact 94426 46611, 94421 46611. Registration is compulsory.
