How did the idea of a website for waste  disposal come about and how does it work?

Three years back, when my wife and I were looking for facilities to dispose junk that we had accumulated for over three months, we realised that the only option that people have always had in the city was through the street vendors. It was then that we decided to have a platform to make waste disposal easier and with the advent of e-commerce, it was easier for us to set up a website after which we hired workforce to collect and segregate waste. Users can register with our website and get paid for the accumulated waste. A detailed list of prices of each category of waste is available on the website.

    How is the waste disposed?

After we collect the waste from the customers, we segregate it further according to the recyclability of the plastic, metal and other materials, which is then given for treatment in recycling plants. There isn’t even a shred of waste after we sell off our collected junk to wholesalers. Every element is recycled.

How has the awareness among public with respect to waste disposal changed over the years?

Our clientele has grown from 100 to 25,000 households now in just about three years, in Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai. This for us, is an indication of rising awareness. To make our facilities available to more people, we are working on an app that will be launched in a couple of months, through which people can send us their location and have their waste disposed in just 90 minutes.
