Brothers held for driving away lorry full of cigarettes
Police have identified them as Michael and Francis, both residents of Thoothukudi, who along with two others attacked driver Mohan before driving away the lorry full of cigarettes on Saturday.

Tiruvallur police arrested brothers for attacking a driver and then driving away a lorry carrying cigarettes worth Rs 68 lakhs. Police said the brothers along with two others assaulted lorry driver Mohan, who had taken the load of cigarettes from a godown at Poochi Athipettu near Tiruvallur on Saturday and was on his way to Vellore.
According to the complainant, four persons in a car followed the lorry of Mohan and then intercepted the lorry suddenly near Chunguvar Chathiram. Two persons got out of the car and assaulted Mohan and chased him away. They then took the lorry and escaped.
The other two in the car also escaped from the spot. Mohan then informed the matter to his boss and the information was passed on to the Tiruvallur police control room. Police tracked the vehcile with help of the GPS devise fitted in the lorry and found out that the lorry was coming towards Keezhchery near Tiruvallur.
Police intercepted the lorry and arrested the duo who were inside the lorry and later identified them as Michael and his brother Francis, both residents of Thoothukudi. Police have also launched a hunt for the other two who escaped after the crime.
