This after the Government’s status report revelling that the deceased had died due to natural causes and that the agitation was handled in accordance with norms.

First Bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and MM Sundaresh, closed the proceedings after observing that Advocate Nasrullah, who complained to us about the incident was not present and no other material was brought to our notice other than the press report.

The Bench also recorded aspects of the status report which submitted that the Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of all Types of Differently-abled and Caregivers took out a protest with a view to lay siege to the Secretariat on February 17 seeking enhancement of monetary benefits from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000.

This situation forced the police to take action. The demonstrators were detained at the State Guest House, Blue Gate Premises, but since those premises were inadequate, they were taken to the Corporation Community Hall in Egmore. They were again shifted on account of paucity of space to APVP Kalyanamandapam.

The report also submitted that the post-mortem conducted revealed that the deceased, who was not disabled had died due to the effect of intra-cranial haemorrhage of natural causes.
