Why did you choose to do a performance on Mother Earth?

Women’s Day has always been about gender discrimination. I wanted to take the opportunity to explore a topic that I thought was relevant and ought to be discussed.

What are the components of the performance?

The performance stems from man’s belief that he is a superior being. No one has bestowed on him the privilege to be superior. The atrocities he has unleashed on nature are highly condemnable. This performance will make people realise that. It will be a spontaneous art performance and since it is on the beach, I will use sand as a medium of expression, apart from inviting people to express their views.

What is the kind of audience you are hoping to attract?

The kind of audiences visiting art galleries is very different, when compared to the ones visiting the beach. I hope to appeal to a wide spectrum of people through ‘Mother Earth’.
