AISF President Syed Waliullah Qadri, who came to the city to participate in the State Committee meeting, told reporters that seven students, including two Dalits, had committed suicide in the last three months in different colleges in the state.

"What problems Hyderabad University scholar Rohith Vemula had faced, similar types of problems are being faced in colleges in Tamil Nadu and there is no security to the students," he said.

Alleging that administration of some colleges were creating problems for Dalit students, he said AISF "will fight against this type of continued injustice meted out to Dalit students."

Though Tamil Nadu government had passed an order directing colleges to impart free education to Dalit students, they were not following it, he claimed.

He also wanted the government to rein in colleges, which were increasing the fee structure at their whims and fancies and where private security guards and goons were allegedly monitoring movement of the students.
