Wakf Board directed to maintain status quo
The Madras High Court has ordered status quo in filling up the 47 entry level posts in Tamil Nadu Wakf Board.

Chennai
Justice T Raja before whom the petition came up also issued notice to Wakf Board to reply within two weeks.
AK Rafi Baig of Chennai, had submitted that the Government on December 12, 2014 had directed the Wakf board to fill 47 entry level posts with the condition that the additional expenses for such employment should be borne by the board itself.
But though the Government Order (GO) was passed in 2014, the Chairman A Thamilmahan Hussain called for applications from eligible Muslim candidates only on July 16, 2015. Thereafter, the board hurriedly held the written exams on February 20, 2016 followed by an interview.
The petitioner also alleged that the Wakf board has deliberately employed Hindustan Soft Ware Limited, Chennai to conduct the examination, which is against Government Rules and that in the appointment of office assistants the Chairman had obtained lucrative sums through one of the employees and had also provided receipts for the same.
