Fake Indian notes from Pakistan; 3 held
The counterfeit currency wing of the CB-CID on Friday arrested three persons and seized Pakistan made Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) with a face value of Rs 10 lakh

Chennai
Based on a tip off the CB-CID team picked up Ismail (23), Rizwan (24) and Rafeek (23), all natives of Mannadi, from an area near Korukkupet Railway station. CB CID sources said they were carrying 10 bundles of Rs 500 denomination and 5 bundles of Rs 1,000 denomination.
They were about to distribute the notes to sub-agents for circulation, officials said. CB-CID officials said the currency notes had come to Chennai from Malda, W Bengal after the notes were smuggled to India through Bangladesh. Police suspect the gang could have transported the FICNs through trains from Kolkata to Chennai.
All the three arrested accused have been remanded. The FICN circulation in India has been a headache for the officials as these notes manage to replicate the security marks of original currency. Sources say these notes were printed on the same paper used to print real currency and are sourced from London. These notes had the security thread and embossed printing on panel but have so far failed to replicate the Gandhi water mark to perfection.
