The announcement assumes significance in the wake of speculations that one of the Left parties may quit the PWA and in the backdrop of BJP claim that the four-party alliance will crumble before the polls.

Talking to reporters after the state politburo meeting here, CPM leader G Ramakrishnan said “We have formulated a common minimum programme and will carry out door-to-door campaign in all the 234 constituencies.”

People’s Welfare Alliance convener Vaiko, talking to press persons in Coimbatore, said that a meeting of the alliance partners over seat sharing would be held on March 25 in Chennai.

Talking to newsmen on the sidelines of a party meeting, he said that the recently-launched website of the PWA was getting tremendous response and youth formed a big chunk among the visitors.

While, the alliance has completed its campaign in one-fifth of the state, the next phase would start from Kanyakumari on March 28 and go on till March 30, the PWA convener informed When asked if any new party would join their front, Vaiko said that they have already invited the DMDK and now it was for Vijayakant to take the call. “Only 60 days are left for the elections and how long can we wait for him (Vijayakant),” the MDMK leader asked.

    PWA won’t last till polls:

Raja Meanwhile, BJP National Secretary H Raja predicted that the four-party led People’s Welfare Alliance (PWA), would cease to exist at the time of the Assembly polls. Talking to reporters in Chennai on Friday, he said that nearly 60 days were left for the polling and the PWA, headed by MDMK leader Vaiko, would not exist on May 16.

Coming down heavily on the MDMK leader, Raja said Vaiko’s indecisive attitude would bring down the curtains on PWA. Vaiko was part of the BJPled NDA during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, but some critical remarks made by Raja against him, forced the MDMK to walk out of the NDA.

Stating that the BJP’s manifesto would be released in April, Raja said several meetings have been convened with people from various walks of life to finalise the manifesto. The inputs given by them would be taken into consideration before the final draft was prepared.

On the poll preparations, he said the party would hold conferences in all the 234 assembly constituencies and BJP national leaders would campaign in the state. Regarding the strategy for the polls, Raja said that his party would highlight the achievements of the Modi government during the last 21 months and use It as an additional weapon in the upcoming Assembly polls.
