Cancel permits to Coca Cola, shale gas projects: Vaiko

In a statement, he said the Coca Cola’s expansion project involved drawing of several lakh litres of water from the Tamirabarani river, which was the main water source for irrigation in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts. 

In another statement, Vaiko urged the Centre to withdraw permission granted to ONGC for its shale gas exploration project in the interest of farmers. 

Slamming the Centre for pushing the farmers to the brink by following wrong economic policies and negligent attitude, he said people in these districts would be forced to take the agitational path if the permission given to ONGC was not withdrawn.
