Second round of AIADMK candidates’ interview held
Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Sunday held the second round of interview with candidates, who had expressed interest to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections

Many of the candidates who attended the interview were fresh faces, an indication that the party might give an opportunity to the young blood of the party.
Over 101 candidates turned up for the 62 seats that were under review at Jayalalithaa’s residence in Poes Garden. Prospective candidates from Kanyakumari, Thoothyukudi, Tirunelveli, Ramanathapuram, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Vellore districts had been invited for the faceto-face interview with the Chief Minister.
The first phase of screening of AIADMK candidates took place on March 6. Over 26,174 AIADMK cadre have applied, hoping to be selected to contest in the May 16 Assembly elections.
CM’s condolence
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa condoled the demise of ‘Film News’ Anandan, saying he did a phenomenal work as a newsperson at the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. “My government in 2002 paid Rs 10 lakh to acquire his work and helped release a book, Sathanai Padiatha Tamil Cinema Varalaaru ,” she said.
