Don’t stop flag removal work, EC warns cadre
Concerned over the increasing incidents of political party functionaries preventing the election officials from removing party flags and flag poles, the Chennai District Election Office has warned that stern action would be initiated against such violators.

Special teams formed by the election office to monitor the model code of conduct violations are active in all the 16 assembly constituencies in the district. Flying squads, surveillance and static teams are taking swift action whenever complaints are received through the toll free number in the election control section.
“Most of the complaints are related to grievances regarding unauthorised hoardings, party flags and flag poles in residential areas,” an official said. Warning stern action as per law against the offenders, the Chennai District Election Office in a statement pointed out that election officials and corporation workers engaged in removing such hoardings and flags should not be prevented from carrying out their work.
