TNPSC ordered to file counter with a cost
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) faced the wrath of the Madras High Court for failing to file its counter over a Public Interest Litigation that has challenged the appointment of advocates, allegedly owing allegiance to AIADMK as TNPSC members.

Chennai
Taking strong exception in this regard, the first bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice MM Sundresh directed the TNPSC member secretary, newly appointed TNPSC members and Secretary to Governor of Tamil Nadu to file the counter within two weeks subject to a deposit of Rs 5,000 each.
The PIL had challenged the appointment of 11 persons including seven advocates as members claiming that they neither had experience in administration nor recruitment. The plea had also alleged that one of the appointees, V Ramamurthy, compulsorily retired after facing corruption charges, and has now been made a member of the commission. Hence the appointments were illegal and unconstitutional, it argued.
Senior Counsel P Wilson appearing on behalf of TKS Elangovan of the DMK also argued that the deliberation that took place between the government and Governor should be placed before the Court for its perusal. The case has been posted for further hearing to June 13, 2016.
