EC’s mobile app-TN Elections ‘polls’ over 30,000 votes

The multi-featured Election Commission of India’s (ECI) mobile app-TN Elections, has received a tremendous response from the voters.
According to Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni, over 32,000 persons have downloaded the android version of the application, which was launched early last month. The Apple (iOS version) of the mobile application is expected within a week.
With the mobile app, a person can register as voter, change his address, ask for deletion if registered twice, correct his/her name, change photo and age, besides checking the location of a booth, update mobile number. A voter can also file poll related complaints through this app.
Lakhoni pointed out that the Tamil Nadu CEO’s website “www.elections. tn.gov.in” had 2.75 lakh hits a day, of which about 30 per cent (80,000) on an average were from mobile devices, including smartphones.
Jagadeeswaran, an engineer said he could change his address using the app. “It did not take more than 15 minutes for me to fill the online form and officials visited my house to collect documents within two weeks.
