Iceland’s PM walks out of interview on Panama Papers
Iceland’s Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson became one of the most googled personality on Monday as he was caught on video walking out of an interview with a Swedish TV channel after he was asked about a company called Wintris.

This company, based in the tax haven of the British Virgin Islands, became a subject of scrutiny in the wake of Sunday’s Panama Papers revelations. The Panama Papers is the nickname given to the millions of documents leaked from a law firm called Mossack Fonseca. It shows how political leaders and other people of influence have illegally taken advantage of foreign tax havens. In the video, the PM is seen asking reporters, “What are you trying to make up here.... This is totally inappropriate.” Gunnlaugsson claimed that Wintris, which his wife Anna Sigurlaug Pálsdóttir now owns, has been fully declared to the Icelandic tax authority. The PM is being accused of a conflict of interest after the company recently claimed millions in bonds from the bankrupt estates of the country’s devastated banks.
