HM assaulted by correspondent, husband

The headmistress, S Sridevipriya of RJR Middle School, has been admitted with injuries on her left hand in the Stanley Medical College hospital. She has lodged a complaint with the Korukkupet police against school correspondent Jayanthi and her husband Pushparaj.

“Jayanthi and Pushparaj barged into the classroom when my wife was taking a class and assaulted my wife. She had written a letter to the education department regarding the irregularities in the  school by the correspondent and her husband. The assault was an act of revenge for that. Pushparaj also tried to sexually abuse my wife and that complaint is now under investigation,” Somasundaram, husband of headmistress Sridevipriya told DTNext.

He said the school correspondent has rented out the top portion of the school to four strangers and had leased out a portion of the school to a private party to convert it as a godown. “The area which were constructed using government funds were leased out. They also sold the free books provided by the government to the students. My wife has been objecting to such irregularities and the correspondent and her husband had been victimising my wife for that,” Somasundaram said.

He said the correspondent cut off the electricity connection to the cabin of the headmistress and did not even provide her a chair for her to sit. “They warned my wife against exposing their wrong- doing. Almost all the teachers are supporting my wife in her actions. They are jeopardising the future of several students who are studying in this school,” Somasundaram said.

The efforts of DTNext to reach the correspondent of the school failed; calls to the phone number of the correspondent went unanswered.
