Stalin blames Vaiko for split in DMDK, TMC
Senior DMK Leader and party Treasurer MK Stalin on Sunday squarely blamed the four-party combine People’s Welfare Front (PWF) Coordinator and MDMK General Secretary Vaiko for engineering splits in the DMDK, led by actor Vijayakant and the Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) of former Union Shipping Minister GK Vasan.

Reacting to the split in DMDK and TMC, he openly charged Vaiko with breaking these two parties by splitting them. “Had these parties not joined the PWF, they would not have suffered splits,” Stalin said. Denying Vaiko’s allegation that DMK president M Karunanidhi was deliberately engineering the split by giving crores of rupees, he said, “I openly charge that Vaiko was responsible for the split in the DMDK and the TMC.”
The DMDK had formally split with ten of the rebel leaders, including three MLAs and several district secretaries, who opposed Vijayakant’s decision to align with the PWF and wanted him to reconsider it by forming an alliance with the DMK, forming a new party.
TMC too has gone for a split with three of the senior leaders expressing displeasure over Vasan’s decision to ally with the PWF and an ex-Member of Parliament quitting the party to protest against it.
