Is VCK planning a ‘Kejriwal’?
Adding fuel to unconfirmed reports that VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan may take on AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa in RK Nagar, the party general secretary D Ravikumar on Wednesday posted a message on his Facebook page titled ‘RK Nagar: Who will be the Arvind Kejriwal?’

Chennai
The writer in him was perhaps not content with a mere mention of AK formula that Ravikumar, in the same post, added, “VCK’s choice of candidate for RK Nagar has stirred a serious debate in media circles ever since the party purposely got the constituency allocated to it (in the alliance).”
The Dalit ideologue who claimed that Thiruma has earned the goodwill of Chennaiites by directly participating in the flood relief during the December deluge also said, “People of Chennai have not forgotten the manmade disaster caused by the administrative failure of the state government. Voters of RK Nagar will create another Sheela Dikshit,” obviously likening Thiruma to AK who ended the Congress-BJP bipolarity in the national capital, a similar goal the DMDK-PWF-TMC alliance wants to achieve. The writer also levelled a veiled attack against bigwigs of DMK and AIADMK who hesitate to face each other directly in the polls.
Strangely, some PWF sympathisers like writer publisher Gnani were quick to deride the suggestion. Gnani used the same Facebook to describe the proponents of the idea as “sidekicks of DMK” and said Thiruma’s entry in to the Assembly was the need of the hour.
Significantly, Gnani’s apprehension has evoked mixed reaction among netizens, who see RK Nagar as an opportunity for Thiruma to make his voice heard even louder, instead of facing the polls from a comfort zone like Kaatumannarkoil, which would be a safe bet for the most prominent Dalit leader of the state. Whether he wins it or not, in challenging Jayalalithaa at the hustings, and that too by trying something the other Dravidian party leaders have not even dared to contemplate, Thiruma would definitely steal the thunder, if not less, as much as a few other star candidates in the poll fray.
