Issue of MBBS, BDS forms from May 9
The Directorate of Medical Education has announced that medical aspirants can get application forms for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in medical colleges in the state from May 9.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Director of Medical Education, R Vimala said that students could either buy the application form in 20 government medical colleges or download the application from the state Health and Family Welfare website “www.tnhealth.org.”
Students can buy the forms in government colleges or download it till 5pm on May 26. They need to submit the filled-in form by 5 pm on May 27.
Once a student fills in the downloaded forms, he/ she needs to submit it to the DME with a demand draft for Rs 500.
It is expected that the merit list would be declared on June 15 and first phase of counselling would take place in July, second phase in August.
There are 2,655 seats available in the 20 government medical colleges in the state, of which 2,257 belong to the state quota and the remaining 15 per cent (398 seats) will be filled under the all-India quota.
Eight self-financing medical colleges in the state have a sanctioned strength of 1,010 seats of which 595 seats are under the government quota and 415 are under the management quota.
The ESIC Medical College in Chennai has a total of 100 seats, of which 65 will be filled up through government’s single window counselling.
