2 BJP functionaries injured in mishap
Two senior functionaries of the State BJP, including general secretary Mohanrajulu, sustained serious injuries after the car in which they were travelling rammed a sand-laden lorry near Thuvarankurichi during the early hours on Wednesday.

According to sources, BJP state vice-president S Surendran and general secretary S Mohanrajulu, who were heading to a southern district for some poll-related work, at the time of the accident. The mishap occurred when the lorry driver started reversing the vehicle without showing proper signal and the car coming from behind rammed it at Thuvarankurichi. Both the leaders were admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition.
Sources said that the leaders have suffered severe injuries on the head and face. A team of doctors is constantly monitoring their condition. According to hospital sources, condition of both the functionaries is critical. They have to be monitored at least for the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, State BJP unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan visited the both of them at the hospital.
