Severe blow to rural students, says Anbumani
The SC decision to allow NEET for medical and dental courses is a severe blow to social justice and rural students, said Anbumani Ramadoss, ex-union health minister and the CM candidate of the PMK.

Responding to the Friday order of the apex court, Anbumani said that NEET will be a big setback for students as they were not prepared for it.
Questioning the rationale behind holding NEET for medical courses alone, he asked why similar common exams were not being held for other professional courses like engineering and chartered accountancy courses.
When it comes to social justice, it will take a toll on the admission quota in minority institutions, which have to allot 50 per cent of their seats to minority students. Pointing out that only 15 per cent of rural students managed to get medical seats when there was entrance exam in the State, he said the same admission rate increased to 65 per cent after the scrapping of the entrance exam. “We are exploring the legal ways of how to tackle the issue.” Anbumani said.
