The raids continued till Sunday evening after the officials received a tip-off about concealment of huge amounts of cash inside the office. The election flying squad requested the aid of I-T sleuths after they received the alert. Sources said a clear picture would emerge only after the searches were complete.

The election officials had kept the building under video surveillance and informed the I-T officials after they received confirmation regarding the cash stashed inside the company’s office.

Meanwhile, the election flying squad seized Rs. 49.65 lakhs from a vehicle on Venkatanarayana Road in T Nagar on Saturday night. The police intercepted a car and found bundles of currency stacked inside the vehicle. Police said the vehicle belonged to a company called CMS and the passengers in the car claimed to have collected the money from various areas and had to be deposited at their headquarters. However, they had no documents to prove their claims. Police subsequently seized the money and handed it over to the Income Tax officials for further investigation.

Sources said that as the election nears, political parties have been using vehicles of various private companies to transport cash. Money is being distributed in several areas by persons who are not directly connected to political parties.
