Sharanya hopes that she would get the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and would like to focus on women and children. “My first preference in civil service is IAS. My parents motivated me a lot and it was their dream that I prepare for the civil service exam,” the 26-year-old Sharanya said.

“When I started to prepare for civil service, I came to know how an IAS officer can make a change in society. I am happy to clear the exam this time successfully,” said Sharanya, a B Tech (Information Technology) 2011 graduate. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the civil service examinations in December 2015 and interviews for personality test took place during March-May 2016.

Tamil Nadu has even more reason to rejoice as two candidates from the state made it to the top 100 among the UPSC candidates. Vaithinathan R bagged the 37th rank while Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar came 72nd in the exam.
