Jayalalithaa seeks decisive mandate in all seats

The party leader who began her campaigning on April 9 at a public rally in Chennai wrapped up on May 12. “I am exultant over the huge public response in all my campaign meetings and I am confident that AIADMK will get a historic victory this election,” she said in a message to the voters.

Explaining to the voters that she was relentlessly fighting to address the livelihood issues of the people, Jayalalithaa underlined the achievements of her government in the Cauvery water dispute and the Mullaiperiyar dam issue. 

On the government’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of women, she said that various schemes had been implemented. She pointed out that she implemented 50 per cent reservation for women in local bodies. 

She said that the DMK which was in the power both in the state and the centre unleashed goondaism betwen 2006 and 2011. “You wouldn’t have forgotten the dismal law and order situation due to their ‘rowdy raj’,” she said and charged that they were involved in land grabbing and justice through holding kangaroo court. 

The anti-people activities of DMK were eliminated after she came to power in 2011, Jayalalithaa said. She guaranteed safety of property and lives of people.

“The various schemes implemented by the AIADMK government have benefited each and every family and every individual in the state,” she said and pointed out that the party manifesto was prepared to continue these welfare measures. 

The AIADMK leader cautioned her party cadre to be vigilant on the day of election and counting to prevent opponents from committing any transgressions.
