Record show by Tamil Nadu in CBSE Class 10 boards
Tamil Nadu has registered a pass percentage of 99.78 in CBSE Class 10 exams this year, results for which were announced on Saturday.

The overall the pass percentage this time across the country was 96.21, which has dropped from 97.32 per cent last year. Totally, 1,68,541 students have secured 10 CGPA across the country this year.
As many as 6,227 students registered to take the examination in the school based category, of which 6,226 appeared and 6186 got through. Of the 32,324 students registered under the board category, 32,303 appeared and 32,257 cleared the exam.
A total of 38,529 appeared for the test under both the categories and 38,443 passed. Eighty-six candidates were declared as eligible for improvement of performance (EIOP).
Arun Pandian, a student of DAV Boys Senior Secondary School, Gopalapuram in Chennai, with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 10 out of 10, says that initially he wanted to migrate to state board for class 11, but had now changed his idea. “I will continue in CBSE and go for Biology group so that I can score more marks in NEET,” he said.
Jayanth N, another student from the same school, who secured 10 CGPA, says that he is planning to take computer science in class 11.
Jagath Sairram, yet another top scorer of 10 CGPA from Vivekananda Vidyalaya School in Thiruvottriyur, also wants to join computer science as it was his childhood dream. There seems to be a good demand for the Biology group in class 11, according to principals of a few prominent CBSE schools in the city.
S Namasivayam, senior principal of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chetpet, pointed out that students feel that there were a lot of opportunities for students who study Biology group in classes 11 and 12.
