NLC contract staff plan indefinite strike from June 11
The contract workers of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation have decided to go on an indefinite strike from June 11 as the talks over charter of demands between the management and NLC Jeeva Contract Labourers’ Association has failed.

The workers have been demanding regularization of service and DA as per Mining Act.
The decision to go on strike was taken at a special meeting of the association in Mantharakuppam after the talks failed.
Resolutions calling for protest against the NLC management for not adhering to the SC order; demanding regularization of services; DA as per mining wages act; meeting Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and handing over petition listing demands of workers and agitation in front of the Cuddalore collectorate on June 9 and 10, were adopted during the meeting.
They also sought the support of other unions for the strike. The association has also decided to go on indefinite strike from June 11, if the management doesn’t heed the demands of the workers.
