In a statement here, CPM secretary R Rajangam said the result of the entrance examination was published this year after the public started resorting to agitations in front of Jipmer, and without any precedent, the examination was conducted in two sessions in the morning and evening with different question papers.
The morning question paper was tough and the evening was easier, which resulted in the success of more students in the evening examination, he pointed out. Rajangam said that as many as 18 students outside were selected under Puducherry quota and a 44-year- old man was also admitted to first year MBBS at Jipmer.
The CPM leader also urged the new Congress government led by V Narayanasamy in the Union Territory to ensure 50 per cent MBBS seats as government quota from seven private medical colleges here and also to fix the tuition fees and see that the private medical colleges were collecting only the fees fixed. He also urged the administration to initiate measures to enable that the local students get 25 per cent reservation in Pondicherry Central University in all subjects.

AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan on Friday charged that the Congress government led by V Narayanasamy had indulged in corruption and irregularities in securing 50 per cent seats as government quota in private medical colleges in admission to first year MBBS.
