Murder accused raped the victims
Chinnaraj (35), who was arrested by the Royapettah police on Friday for murdering his wife and three step daughters, had raped one or more of the girls after attacking them.

The post- mortem report of the victims has confirmed rape. Police said it was not very clear whether the accused had raped the women after death or just after attacking them with an iron rod.
Police said the efforts of Pandiammal, his wife, to save her daughters from the lustful eyes of Chinnaraj had led to the murder of all the four. Chinnaraj had been trying to marry Pandiammal’s eldest daughter Pavithra. He had also allegedly tried to sexually harass the girls which Pandiammal vehemently opposed. This had caused tension between the couple, and Pandiammal did not allow Chinnaraj to sleep inside the room for fear of her daughters being sexually assaulted.
“Chinnaraj had been after these girls for some time. However, he encountered stiff resistance from Pandiammal. He decided to kill all of them. He raped the women after attacking them. We suspect that it could be a case of necrophilia,” a police official said.
All the four bodies were seen without clothes and in a decomposed state inside Chinnaraj’s rented house on Muthu Street early on Friday. Police said the accused had tried to divert the attention by scattering clothes and other articles in the room.
“He is probably a psychopath as he chose to sleep with the dead bodies for two days. We suspect that he would have brought Pandiammal to Chennai to take advantage of her daughters,” police said.
The bodies of the victims have been released after post-mortem and would be cremated in Chennai. Police said the bodies were in a highly decomposed state and hence could not be taken to Pandiammal’s native village in Tirupathur.
