Kin seek government help to free Madurai labourer from Malaysian prison
Kin of a labourer who is held at a prison in Malaysia, petitions the state and central governments bring him back home.

Madurai
In the petition submitted to Madurai Collector, K Veera Raghav Rao, on Monday, the family had claimed that Baskaran, the labourer, was held in a prison in Malaysia and is undergoing various forms of torture. Hence governments must intervene and bring him back to India.
Baskaran’s wife, Pandiammal, claimed they were married 30 years ago and have three children including two girls. Baskaran worked as a daily wage earner in Madurai. Three years ago, he had gone to Malaysia as a labourer. Since then he had not sent home any money. Owing to this, their children started working.
Almost one and a half years ago, Baskaran made a phone call claiming his passport was confiscated and that he would be arrested soon. Since then there was no call from him. Many of his roommates called the family in Madurai to inform them that Baskaran was imprisoned and that he could not be released. The friends claimed they too do not have the resources to release Baskaran and hence state and central governments must take steps to rescue her husband demanded Pandiammal.
