Delivery boy swaps iPhones for fakes, held
Madhavaram police on Saturday arrested a delivery boy with the online trading firm Flipkart on charges of cheating the firm of 12 Apple iPhones.

Chennai
Police said B Naveen (21), a B Com graduate, who had been working as a delivery boy at Flipkart’s Madhavaram warehouse placed orders for iPhones from various addresses through Flipkart. He used different mobile numbers for placing the orders. He also opted for the cash on- delivery option.
When Flipkart sent the parcels to Chennai, Naveen picked them up under the guise of making delivery, but actually took them to his house. He then placed duplicate iPhones in the original packing, repacked them and returned them to the warehouse, stating customers had returned the parcel alleging that the phones were duplicates and not original.
Believing Naveen, the warehouse authorities returned the packets to Flipkart’s Delhi office. When the fraud examiners of Flipkart inspected the packages and security signs on them, they found out that the packages had been tampered with and the phones returned were not the ones sent by the agency. They alerted the Madhavaram warehouse managers about the fraud. Following a complaint by warehouse manager Vetriselvan, police grilled Naveen who confessed to the crime. Police also recovered all 12 iPhones from his house.
