Drunk woman runs luxury car over pedestrian
In yet another case of death due to drunken drive in Chennai, a luxury car, Audi A6, ran over a pedestrian, on Rajiv Gandhi Salai near SRP Tools.

Police said, a woman, who was in an inebriated condition, was driving the car. The woman was later identified as V Aiswarya (26), a resident of Chetpet, daughter of an industrialist. Two of her friends, who were also drunk, were in the car at the time of the incident.
Following the death of the pedestrian, Aiswarya has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Police said all the occupants of the car were software engineers, who were returning home reportedly from a pub on OMR.
Police said the white Audi A 6, which was coming from Sholinganallur end, knocked down Munusamy (45), a carpenter of Kamarajar Nagar, Tiruvanmiyur, while he was trying to cross the road.
Munusamy was thrown several metres away and he died on the spot.
The car did not stop after the accident and a motorist, who was present at the scene, chased and stopped the killer vehicle.
On information, police reached the spot and conducted inquiries. Traffic Additional Commissioner Abhay Kumar Singh told DT Next that all the three occupants of the car were drunk.
“Blood samples of the woman, who was at the wheel, that were tested showed 36 BAC (blood alcohol content, meaning 36 grams of alcohol in 100 grams of blood),” AK Singh said.
Police have registered a case of drunken, rash and negligent driving and under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against the accused.
On February 3, an Audi Q7, driven by a businessman had knocked down Kevin Raj (25), a resident of Royapuram near TVS company on Mount Road, while he was riding a bike.
The youth was thrown several metres away and his body was found hanging from the girders of Metrorail work site.
