9 held for looting jewels from company
Nine persons who were allegedly involved in a mega private finance robbery case at Pandalkudi in Virudhunagar district were secured by sleuths attached to the Special Branch at Virudhunagar and interrogated at an undisclosed location. Gold jewels weighing nearly 450 sovereigns were recovered from them.

The incident happened on July 2 when a three-member gang visited a private finance company at Pandalkudi and on the pretext of mortgaging the jewels attacked two persons including the manager of the branch and confined them in a room. They looted 625 sovereigns of gold and cash to the tune of Rs.10 lakh.
Customers who went to the shop later rescued the company staff and informed the police. Police obtained the CCTV footage of the robbers while escaping in a car and intensified the search. Based on a tip-off, police secured nine persons suspected to be involved in a case at Arupukottai and when they were interrogated they revealed all details.
