Woman, two daughters commit suicide in KK Nagar
Wife and two daughters of a retired government employee, who was recently arrested in a cheating case, ended their lives by hanging at their residence in MGR Nagar, KK Nagar.

Chennai
The neighbours found the bodies of Usharani (55), her daughters Kalaivani (29) and Vijayalakshmi (27) hanging on the terrace of the building on Saturday morning.
Police said Devarajan (64), a native of Cuddalore, had shifted his residence to Chennai a few months ago and was staying in a rented house on the first floor. Devarajan, who retired from the HR and CE department, was recently arrested for cheating several youth after offering them jobs in TNEB. Police had arrested him following complaints that appointment orders provided by Devarajan were fake.
Police said Devarajan had a tainted record during his government service and was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption for accepting bribe. He was arrested from his hideout in MKB Nagar recently by the Cuddalore police and taken to Cuddalore. Police said 26 unemployed youth who had paid money to Devarajan, hoping to get a job in TNEB, had lodged complaints against the accused. Devarajan provided appointment orders to them, and when they went to the offices to join duty, they were told that the orders were fake.
Police believe that his family would have felt humiliated about the incident and decided to end their lives. The house owners, who lived on the ground floor, checked the house when they found the door of Devarajan’s house shut in the morning.
They went to the terrace and saw all the three bodies hanging from the roof. The bodies were shifted to Government Royapettah Hospital mortuary.
