Mechanics arrested for laptop, cellphone theft
Rayala Nagar police on Sunday arrested two hardware mechanics, on charges of stealing laptops and cell phones from computer engineers put up in a bachelor’s accommodation.

Police seized 15 laptops, six cell phones and Rs. 10,000 in cash from the accused. A special team was formed to investigate a complaint lodged by Kishore Kumar (23), a resident of Ramapuram, who alleged his laptop was stolen from his house when he was away at work.
During a vehicle check at Gandhi Nagar near Ramapuram on Sunday, the police intercepted two men on a bike. The duo admitted to have stolen several laptops from bachelor accommodations in the city. Police arrested E Udhaya Kumar (32), of Kurinji Nagar, Ramapuram and J Gopi (33), a resident of Kolathur.
Udhaya Kumar owns a mobile service centre at Ramapuram and Gopi owned a similar shop at Kolathur. Police said the duo kept a close watch on bachelor accommodations in the area and knew the residents kept their house keys outside their houses when they went out. They duo used the keys to open the house and steal laptops and mobiles from the houses.
