A two-and-a-half-year old boy died after falling from the 12th floor of a residential complex on Triplicane High Road under mysterious conditions on Tuesday morning.

Instead of taking up serious investigation and conducting an autopsy, the police have been trying to negotiate with the parents, requesting them to let them take the body for post-mortem. Sources told DTNext that the boy, who allegedly fell from the balcony while playing around 9.30 am was taken to a private hospital and declared brought dead.
The parents took the body back to their apartment. Police who came to know about the incident only around 12 noon were tight-lipped about the source of information. Police maintained that they did not receive any complaint about the mishap and hence could not conduct an investigation. However, as per rules the police will have to register an FIR under Section 174 of IPC (mysterious death) and conduct post-mortem to rule out any wrong-doing.
Triplicane Inspector G Manivannan could not be reached on his cell phone and the station officials refused to hand over the phone to him when he was contacted on the landline. “We do not have any information about the case as of now. A police constable has gone to the spot for investigation and he has not returned yet,” a woman cop at the police station said. Sources identified the deceased boy as Mohammed Sana, son of Yakoob Bhai (45). His family is said to be living on the 12th floor of Arihant Towers on Triplicane High Road.
