Madurai
The petitioner, Mari, wife of Murugan of Madurai, in her petition stated that she along with her husband and son Vijay (3), her sister Mariammal and Mariammal’s husband, Kuruvan, had gone to Nallur near Perungudi in Kanniyakumari district on June 19 where they were arrested. But, till date the whereabouts of them were not known. So, she filed a complaint with the Perungudi police, but in vain. Hence, she had filed Habeas Corpus writ petition in the HC Bench, the petitioner said. She was informed by the Public Prosecutor (PP) that Murugan and Mariammal were arrested and remanded in connection with a robbery case by Marthandam police. Mariammal along with Vijay has been lodged in Madurai special prison.
Kuruvan was arrested by Palugal police in connection with a robbery case and was remanded. When the case came up for hearing on Thursday, Mari’s counsel questioned why Vijay was not sent with his biological mother. To this, the PP replied that the Kuzhithurai JM had ordered that Vijay be sent with his aunt Mariammal. The judge also ordered the JM to appear before the High Court Bench on July 25, Monday. He had also ordered Marthandam Police Inspector to appear in the case.
