The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court recently directed the Tiruchy district administration to conduct a medical test for the children lodged in the home, which was allegedly functioning without proper documents. The court also directed Dr Lalitha, professor of pathology, to conduct the medical investigation for making the identification of their receptive parents. The process will continue till Saturday and the report will be submitted to the court once it is ready.
The parents have been asked to pay a sum of Rs 4,000 for the test. It may be noted that the Mose Ministries Children’s Home functioning at Subramaniyapuram in Tiruchy was accused of lodging children who were allegedly smuggled from various areas in Usilampatti and the adjacent regions. They were said to be illegally given for adoption to overseas couples.
Later, the district administration took control over the home, which was run by a Germany-based NGO, as per the direction of HC. The court had last year appointed a committee to manage the home. A team from the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing allegations of trafficking and abuse, recently carried out a search in the home and a few other places.
