Speaking to reporters on Monday, N Mani, coordinator of the Council, said that the draft policy encourages private sector in education and also infringes into the state’s autonomy.
“We urge political parties to debate on the draft policy. They should take a decision in the interest of people, besides safeguarding the rights of the state,” the convenor of the council, which has 20 associations as members, said.
The council also said that the union government should translate “some inputs on the draft National Education Policy (NEP) 2016” in all regional languages so that all people can understand them and they should be allowed to submit feedback in their mother tongue.”
The council has also organised a seminar on July 30 at Loyola College to discuss about the draft policy.
“If the Union government does not heed to our demands, we will launch a campaign to travel to different places and inform stakeholders about the negative impacts of the draft policy from the first week of August,” he said.
