Tiruchy among efficient districts to make use of e-governance: Collector
Tiruchy is among the few districts to utilise e-governance efficiently with public having been sensitised to avail the facility to receive five types of certificates, said district collector KS Palanisamy.

Stating that there are 197 e-service centres functioning in district, the Collector said that 5.33 lakh certificates have been distributed through these centres so far. “The centres are functioning in the ratio of one for two panchyats in the district. There is an e-service centre for every two kilometres,” the Collector said.
Accordingly, 2.63 lakh income certificates issues, 1.06 lakh community certificates, 1.54 lakh residential certificates, 8,975 first graduate certificates and five destititue women certificates have been distributed so far by the Revenue department. “A fee of Rs 50 is collected for the certificates issued,” Palanisamy said.
Meanwhile, new online facility has been introduced for get patta name changed in case of land deals. The scheme was initially introduced at Srirangam Taluk on pilot basis in 2015 and now it has been extended to Thottiyam, Manachanallur, Tiruvarumbur, Manapprai, Marungapuri, Thuraiyur, Musiri and Lalgudi taluks. As many as 17,648 pattas have been distributed so far. A fee of Rs 50 is collected for the patta transfer application and Rs 20 is collected for a copy of Chitta, the Collector said.
Due to such as hassle-free procedure and transparent communication, the number of people approaching the e-centres has been increasing every day. “Tiruchy is among the top 10 districts,” he added.
